The tve Global Sustainability Films Awards (GSFA) recognises outstanding films from the business, non-profit, media and creative sectors that inspire audiences with real-world solutions for a more sustainable future. Now in its 13th year, it has become one of the most prestigious awards for recognising sustainable ideas and solutions.
tve is a UK-registered charity ( charity number 326585) founded by the United Nations Environment Programme, WWF-UK, and Central Television (now part of ITV) in 1984. Our mission is to use the power of storytelling to drive real world change for a more sustainable future keeping the crucial UN Sustainable Development Goals in mind.

The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards (GSFA) has found a perfect home at 195 BAFTA, the iconic headquarters of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. This prestigious venue, located in the heart of London's West End, provides an elegant and inspiring setting for the annual celebration of filmmakers and organizations who are using their craft to drive positive change for the environment.

MEET OUR CO-PRESIDENTS
Cheryl Campbell was tve's executive director for 16 years. At a time of revolutionary change in mass media she led the organisation from its focus on broadcasting into the new world of social media and streaming, creating platforms that gave voice to young filmmakers globally, amateur and professional, in exploring the environment and social justice.
Lord Anthony St John of Bletso, a Trustee Emeritus of tve. He is an active member of the House of Lords, a businessman and was a former solicitor. In the Lords he speaks on African affairs, deregulation, financial services and technology.
Awards Vice-President
Jens Ambsdorf is the Managing Director of the Lighthouse Foundation, a German non-profit organisation focussing on the implementation of local sustainable development projects and the role of the marine environment for the future of humanity. Jens Ambsdorf holds a diploma in ecology and for more than 30 years his work focuses on ecosystems, people and sustainable development.

FORMER PRESIDENT- FRIENDS OF TVE
Sue Glenarthur went from art school into teaching and subsequently became a full time mother, later returning to work in a variety of roles. Sue was a freelance journalist for BBC Radio Aberdeen and then became the UK PA to the Secretary General of the UN Independent Commission on International Humanitarian Issues. She has always been associated with various charities, most notably the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Sue was introduced to tve in the 1980s, becoming a strong believer in the work of the charity and forming a support organisation, the Friends of tve. The aim of the Friends was to increase awareness of tve within the UK and to raise funds. As chair of the Friends and then as a Trustee of tve, Sue has worked for nearly four decades to fulfil this remit.

Tony Matharu is founder and Chairman of Integrity International Group and its subsidiaries, including Global Hospitality Services, and Integrity International Trust.
Honorary Vice President (Asia Region)
Helen Wang is a business angel investor and serial entrepreneur. Helen’s versatile career in art, finance and technology enabled her to found several businesses across education, music and art, and technology. Helen sits on the advisory board of several startups in Asia and Europe. Being recognised as an active member of several prominent investment networks in the UK and Europe, Helen is instrumental to many cross continental business development activities.
Helen is also known for her patronage in culture, art and music. She founded London Music Academy, an institute specialises in music exchanges between the West and the East. Helen is active in charity fundraising and she built her track records in investing in educational activities.
tve's President
Surina Narula MBE based in the UK and India is a business woman, philanthropist and activist. She founded tve's Global Sustainability Film Awards in 2012 and is involved with various charitable initiatives in the UK and India.
tve's Chair
Mei Sim Lai OBE DL FCA FCCA who holds and has held many other City, public and charity/voluntary appointments. Since 2006 she has been one of the Queen's and now the King's representatives in London and has represented the Monarch in Brent since 2007. Mei Sim was the first Chinese person in the 900 year history of the City of London to be elected Master of the Worshipful Company of World Traders in 2011.
Competitive categories for 2024
YOUNG FILMMAKER SHORT FILM AWARD
Awarded to the best film under 30 minutes on a sustainability issue by a filmmaker under the age of 35, with a focus on films that bring to light underrepresented voices or issues. The films will be judged both on the quality of their filmmaking and the significance and credibility of the story depicted.
TRANSFORMING SOCIETY SHORT FILM AWARD
Awarded to the film under 30 minutes that highlights initiatives or ideas to transform society and the way we live to become more sustainable and just world, for example through changes in our economic model, the way we grow our food, consume and work, govern our societies, or build our cities and other infrastructure.
GREENER LIVING SHORT FILM AWARD
Awarded to the film under 30 minutes that best inspires to adopt nature-based solutions to mitigate the threat of climate change and biodiversity loss. For example, by protecting and restoring forests, wetlands and coastal ecosystems through varied means like, focusing on sustainable agriculture, promoting behavioural change to reduce plastic use or carbon emissions, going eco-friendly, developing environment-friendly products or reducing their impact on biodiversity.
CORPORATES AND BUSINESS IN SUSTAINABILTY SHORT FILM AWARD
Awarded to the film under 45 minutes that best explains how a business/corporate organisation can help in mitigating the pressing global sustainability challenges. This category specifically celebrates the work and effort of businesses (small, medium or large) in the field of sustainability.
DOCUMENTARY IMPACT AWARD
Awarded to the documentary that has had the most impact in helping build a more sustainable future for people and planet, for example by driving political, corporate, social or individual behaviour change. Both feature and broadcast films are eligible
WOMEN/GIRLS IN SUSTAINABILITY: GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES FILM AWARD
Through this particular category we aim to showcase and celebrate the work and effort of women who are an inspiration in the field of "Sustainability" for everyone.
